Remedial Learning Programme

Every child deserves an opportunity to learn, regardless of their educational background or current learning level. However, many children from underserved communities face barriers to education, while others attend school without acquiring essential foundational skills.

SOLIS Foundation’s Remedial Learning Programme provides community-based learning support to children who are out of school, as well as those who are enrolled in school but experience learning gaps.

Through structured, level-based teaching and individual attention, our learning centre aims to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy, build learning confidence and support children’s continued educational development.

Who We Work With

1. Out-of-School Children

Children who have never enrolled in school, dropped out or are currently not attending school regularly often lack access to consistent learning opportunities.

We provide these children with foundational learning support in reading, writing and mathematics, helping them develop essential skills and prepare for enrolment or re-enrolment in formal education. We also engage with families to encourage children’s transition into and continued participation in school.

2. School-Going Children with Learning Gaps

Many children attend school but struggle to acquire foundational literacy and numeracy skills due to interrupted learning, limited academic support or difficulties understanding classroom lessons.

Our programme provides additional academic support through level-based instruction, guided practice and age-appropriate learning activities. We aim to help children strengthen their understanding, improve classroom participation and progress in their formal education.

Our Approach

Level-Based Learning
Children are grouped according to their existing learning levels and individual needs, enabling teaching to be adapted to their abilities and pace of learning.

Foundational Literacy and Numeracy
We focus on essential reading, writing, comprehension and mathematical skills to establish a strong foundation for further learning.

Child-Centred Teaching
Our learning sessions use interactive activities, guided practice and individual attention to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.

School Readiness and Continuity
For out-of-school children, we focus on foundational skills and support their transition towards formal education. For school-going children, we provide additional learning support to strengthen their classroom learning.

Progress Monitoring
We observe and assess children’s learning progress to identify individual needs, adapt teaching methods and support their continued development.

Our Objective

To provide inclusive and accessible learning opportunities for out-of-school and school-going children by strengthening foundational skills, addressing learning gaps and supporting meaningful participation in formal education.

Our Commitment

At SOLIS Foundation, we believe that a child’s educational journey should not be limited by their current learning level or circumstances. Through our community-based learning centre, we strive to create opportunities for children to learn at their own pace, build confidence and move towards a more secure educational future.
